AWCE Working Group Releases First Annual Assessment Report

The Annual assessment of Weather and Climate Extremes (AWCE) Working Group, which sits within the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) RegionalInformation for Society (RIfS) Global Extremes Platform (GEP), has released its first report, offering an integrated assessment of 2025 weather and climate extremes.

The first report, Annual assessment of Weather and Climate Extremes (AWCE): 2025 in context, is intended to complement existing annual climate assessments by providing a single framework focused on weather and climate extremes in 2025 that places them in historical perspective, combining extreme-event monitoring, analyses of long-term trends, attribution, regional assessments, physical drivers and dynamicalmechanisms and detailed case studies.
